  1. Thank you for posting this, because these images capture this location exactly as I remember last seeing it a few years ago on my third trip to Venice. I love Venice in the evening, when the hordes of luxury cruise line passengers lemming back to their ships and leave the city to the rest of us.

    1. Thank you, Chapps, and I agree that Venice in the evening or early morning is Venice at its best. The 19th-century writer William Dean Howells suggested that Venice starting from 4:30 in the morning was Venice at its best, but I haven't tested out that theory yet--though I think I should. (I do know, however, that as early as 3:30 in the morning on a cold winter night you can already see work boats on the Grand Canal....)
